Name: The Geek
A bagatelle, really. Jostein Gaarder, "Sophie's World" My name is Mark Angelo V. Ching, born on March 14, 1988. I am a sophomore taking up Journalism in the University of the Philippines (Diliman), a bookworm at a young age. If I have money, I make it a point to veer away from bookstores because I tend to spend it all on lots of books. I own a lot of books now because of this; a lot from Stephen King, some from Dean Koontz, Jane Langton, Dick Francis, Susanna Gregory, Ursula K. Le Guin, Patricia Cornwell, Iris Johansen, and more. I am a lover of music, and I sing a lot. Maybe I would try out for Philippine Idol's season 2... hmm. I am also prone to fatal bouts of depression. Now all these are just important for me only, but for you these are just a bagatelle, or worthless. But then, I wish that I'd make a mark on you... even unconsciously.

Before all, I would like to congratulate Efren "Bata" Reyes, the world-class billiards player who recently won two competitions!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Efren_Reyes
Now, I don't congratulate him for what he has won. I congratulate him for being the humble self that he is.
Unlike his fellow internatinaol athlete/sports enthusiaist Manny Pacquiao, he is a very down to earth person, and never has been pretentious. (see previous post)
When asked to whom would he share his winning, he said that its for himself, his family, and for the construction of his daughter's bathroom.
Now that's someone I could support!
Last night, I was watching Philippine Idol the results night and I saw a segment where the semi-finalists were asked why they think they should be made to qualify for the final 12. All the four asked answered that they should be qualified because what they are doing is for their country, and for its people.
It's in this segment when my brother, who was in our room studying, shouted: Hey! Are they trying to emulate Manny Pacquaio?
And I agree.
Manny pacquiao is a liar, and a big one at that.
Everytime that he has a bout, all he'll say is that he's fighting for the Filipino people alone, and we better be proud of it.
If he is saying the truth, then why did he prolong his last fight just for the advertisers (in which he was going to get a percent share of the profit)? Why doesn't he even share his wealth to the very poor Filipino people (who he fools the most) by instilling a foundation, or even by just doling out his cash?
The greatest anomaly would be how he now wants to run for vice-mayor, even though he didn't even do anything to help before his candidacy.
So now I present the new meaning of Manny Pacquiao: Manny Pacquiao means a person who disguises himself/ herself as nationalistic, to gain popularity and support.
Now for the Philippine Idol hopefuls: do not, I repeat, do not be a Manny Pacquiao. We know that you didn't join the contest for us, its for yourself. We'll support you for that.
