The geek critic

random thoughts of a four-eyed genius

About me

Blogger:
Name: The Geek
A bagatelle, really. Jostein Gaarder, "Sophie's World" My name is Mark Angelo V. Ching, born on March 14, 1988. I am a sophomore taking up Journalism in the University of the Philippines (Diliman), a bookworm at a young age. If I have money, I make it a point to veer away from bookstores because I tend to spend it all on lots of books. I own a lot of books now because of this; a lot from Stephen King, some from Dean Koontz, Jane Langton, Dick Francis, Susanna Gregory, Ursula K. Le Guin, Patricia Cornwell, Iris Johansen, and more. I am a lover of music, and I sing a lot. Maybe I would try out for Philippine Idol's season 2... hmm. I am also prone to fatal bouts of depression. Now all these are just important for me only, but for you these are just a bagatelle, or worthless. But then, I wish that I'd make a mark on you... even unconsciously.

The big nincompoop

Nincompoop is one of my favorite words in the English language, along with twiddlededee and DOJ Secretary Raul Gonzales. They all mean the same thing. They all mean stupid.

You better believe it. He has always given out statements that are hard-hitting. However, anyone could always see that what he said is just so incorrect. These statements then looks funny. On the other hand, they are very illogical.

For example, he said that the University of the Philippines (UP) must not contradict Arroyo’s government because it is the government that is funding the whole university. Think about it for a moment and you will see how illogical this statement is. For one, it is not Arroyo’s government that funds the University, but the people who pay the taxes. Second, the faculty and the students (like me) have free minds, minds that cannot be controlled by one individual or organization. Does he want to have zombies produced in the University?

Apparently, he does want that. On his most recent life-changing statement, he said that the University of the Philippines is the breeding ground for rebels. He followed this up by saying that it is true. Then he said that the UP funds must not be released.

Just what was he driving at? Yes, there are rebels in the University. However, could there be rebels if there is no one to rebel on? Can there be a rebel without a cause?

UP doesn’t solely produce rebels. If it does, then is his master (who took a masteral degree in UP) also a rebel? A rebel for herself?

If we only produce rebels, then their incompetent administration should have crashed altogether long ago. But it didn’t…

Until now.  Just more statements like these by the big nincompoop, coupled with more extra-judicial killings and more corruption, will make this happen. Their administration will not only crash, but will lie flat, with no hope for resuscitation.

Priestly Ovation

“If you don’t make a stand, something else will.”

Father Robert Reyes was the one who delivered this statement to us, and at first, it stroke us as a funny statement from a running media-hyper.

Then after he explained it to us, we realized that running media-hyper or not a running media-hyper, this old man makes sense.

Furthermore, I really think that he is right.

Maybe this explains exactly why there are many priests around the Philippines that are exposed as sexual molesters. They failed to make a stand, that is why they are standing somewhere (and they say hi to that which stands up).

If this statement is true, can this mean that (gasp!) every priest unlike Fr. Robert Reyes always has “a stand”?

Maybe that is why the Catholic Church banned scantily clad women from entering church. Right?

The End of All Hope

This is the end of all hope.

Yesterday, the Philippines saw an event that would have an important climax. Yesterday was the debate whether the impeachment would be heard... and apparently, the one who was supposed to be impeached had instructed her maids and bellboys in the congress to keep pushing for the trash can.

These maids used all powers of manipulation necessary. They argued that the opposition (the one backing the impeachment) cannot show the evidences on the case, mainly because it is not the law... that is, it contradicts the rules on impeachment. With this, they would then say that the case lacks strong evidences, and has no substance.

How can they say that it lacks substance if they don't want to test the substance? Are they that stupid, or just playing stupid?

Playing stupid with the people, that is. They are fooling the masses, the ones who put them there to rub elbows with the smallest president with the biggest evil lurking within.

When the impeachment goes to the trash can, this vile imp would then use the said maids and bellboys to push for charter change... her own version of it. It is the one that says: hey! I would sit here forever! Kill all the opposition against me!

She would succeed. What with her elf (the one with the big ears who kept clapping like a fool in his master's SONAs) pushing for it too, for his own interests.

There would then be no hope left.

No hope, I say.
